Hijack: SNL is on Fire

Saturday Night Live is currently getting a lot of attention these days, and I think that’s great, I’ve been watching, regularly, for the last 9 years.  I’ve known it was awesome for quite some time.  Unfortunately you stubborn Generation X individuals think that everything has gone downhill since you started to age.  That’s simply not true, you’re just bitter, get over yourselves and stop taking the world so seriously.  (That was more mean-spirited than I intended, I apologize, but I’m still not sorry enough to erase it.)

So everyone is hearing about TIna Fey’s perfect Sarah Palin impressions, but there’s more to SNL than the opening skits.  I have some of my favorites below, but you can see all the SNL videos NBC has here.  Or you can watch the Digital Shorts here.  Remember there’s a new episode tonight.

Here are some of the skits you’ve been missing:

Judy Grimes

This is a perfect example of the talent on SNL, Kristin Wiig is amazing.  All of her characters are neurotic and hilarious.  I am amazed everytime I watch this character, that she can talk this fast.

Mary Poppins

This is a great use of a talented guest.  Anne Hathaway does a surprisingly good Mary Poppins, and the skit is outrageously good.

The Lawrence Welk Show

I had no idea where they were going with this skit.  I was hoping that the joke wasn’t the first three girls.  Of course it wasn’t, it was Kristin Wiig again.

Of Mice and Men Parody

This skit came completely out of left field, but it was hilarious.

Jar Glove

This one definitely took things too far, but I still loved it.

OJ Jury Selection

I just like the characters they introduce here.

This is great extremely odd parody of There Will be Blood.

Activia Yogurt with Jamie Lee Curtis

Kristin Wiig does a great impression of Jamie Lee Curtis and this skit is too good.

Vinny Talks: Shia Labeouf

Vinny Vedecci is one of the best characters on SNL these days, unfortunately he isn’t on much.

Surprise Party

For me, this was the funniest skit from the last season.  Kristin Wiig is just too good, and I love the progression in this skit.

This is pretty terrible, but not far from the real commercials, except the obvious twist.

I Hope I Get It

Drew Barrymore goes crazy in this sketch.

Penelope in Driving School

Penelope is another one of those great characters that I love.

2 A-Holes Buy a Christmas Tree

These characters are always good.  They don’t come on very often.

Body Fuzion

This is one of my favorite Digital Short.  It’s just way too funny.  Check out all the Digital Short here.

It’s a Match

This one is wierd and a half, but Amy Poehler is hilarious.

Bill Clinton on Weekend Update

Darryl Hammond’s impressions are way too good.  His inflections, timing and manorisms are glorious.  No one can milkt he crowd like him.
