Jacob = Horace Goodspeed

The strange thing about his theory is that as far as I know, no one has suggested it.  And if you look at the evidence it seems obvious.

This is Jacob,

This is Horace,

Look at that forehead, look at that nose, look at that hair, look at that chin.  Maybe it’ll help to look at his eye.

If none of that convinced you, look at those eyebrows.

In my opinion this is absolute proof.  But of course I can’t leave it at that.

What episode did we meet Horace in?  “The Man Behind the Curtain”, the same episode we met Jacob.  And when did we see him next?  “Cabin Fever”, an episode about Jacob.

Not only that, Horace built the Cabin, why wouldn’t he want to live in it after his “death”?

One thing I am unclear about is why Jacob would talk to Ben.  Ben was the person almost solely responsible for Horace’s death, he joined the hostiles and organized the purge.  But a strange scene in that episode occurs after the purge, Ben is walking through NewOtherton and he sees Horace’s dead body sprawled on a bench, he goes up to him and closes his, still open, eyes.  Was this a sign of respect or something else.  Is it possible that Horace wanted the purge to happen, maybe he sacrificed himself.  He says he built the Cabin in order to take a break from the Dharma initiative, maybe he was trying to leave the organization.

Here’s a curious quote that the vision or Horace said to Locke: “You gotta find me, John. You gotta find me. And when you do, you’ll find him” (meaning Jacob).  It’s unclear whether this is evidence for or against my theory, but I’m sticking with the theory.

    VERY interesting theory, Izi. As I was reading it, when you talked about meeting Horace in the “Man Behind the Curtain” and then at the end of the episode, we meet “Jacob”, it reminded me of the Season 2 opener. We “meet” Desmond when he runs with Jack in a flashback. But at the end of the episode, Desmond ends up being the mysterious Swan hatch dweller. Is this the same set up? Hmmmm….

    Plausible.

    The story lines fit and the eyebrow is eerily similar.

    I still think that the last eye picture looks like Desmond — not that I think Desmond is Jacob – I just think that’s his eye. Looks like his rough skin.

    after reading this line in particular to your theory “Is it possible that Horace wanted the purge to happen, maybe he sacrificed himself” it of course is a parallel to ben killing locke, as he killed horace? to cause a purge?

    we can only wait to see
