This one is pretty self explanatory, and it pretty much wrote itself after the season 5 premiere.  If they keep on skipping in time then at some point they’ll go back in time far enough and die there.  So if they ever go to the caves then say good bye to those characters.

I guess the next question is, where did they get the black and white stones?  I can guess what they represent but I don’t know where they’d get them from.

(I can’t think of any way to expand this theory.)

Huh. Ironically (and this sounds horrible, but it’s really not), they’re a mixed couple, too, so that’d be adding to the whole black + white theme, too, huh? 😛
    Interesting, interesting theory.

heh heh, thanks for mentioning that, I wasn’t willing to write that down as proof.

I’m willing to be a horrible person for the sake of Lost xD
(Your Miles theory may be right, by the way :O)

Also, remember that scene of Carl being brainwashed by watching whatever that was? Well, if you play that backwards, you get “Only fools are enslaved by space and time”. Rearrange those letters, and you get “Bones of Nadlers may lay lost deep in cave”. Nadler was Rose and Bernard’s last name. One thing I’ve got to say about that–

Is there a way to rearrange so instead of “nadlers” it says “elders”? Although maybe it was intentional that both are possible.

That is crazy. Anagrams hurt my mind, but I’m glad someone is keeping track of them.

I’ve had the same thought since the time jumping started and Rose & Bernard were never mentioned again. I figure they sought shelter in caves during the flaming arrows attack by the Others. They eventually died due to effects of time jumping. I’m not sure why they would have a black stone and white stone other than the previously mentioned fact that Rose is Black and Bernard is White. That seems a little too contrived though.

that anagram is bulls**t. there is no “B” or “c” in the 1st phrase and no “f” in the second. These are not anagrams of each other. nice try though …

    • May 11, 2009 at 12:00 pm

Hahaha, that’s hilarious. I didn’t even try to figure out if it was a real anagram.
I still stand by my theory though. That wasn’t part of the theory.
Another funny thing, it took almost two months for anyone to say anything about that anagram.

well, you’re wrong. “by” and space” in the first sentence… and “of” in the second…. nice try reading…

Hey anon anon, name so nice ya gotta say it twice, try and figure out what an anagram is and how it works before you say it does not work. An anagram is a type of word play, the result of rearranging the letters of a word or phrase to produce a new word or phrase, using all the original letters exactly once. I honestly can’t understand how people figure these things out though. This could never have been stumbled upon.

As for Bernard and Rose and the other survivors…The story will obviously come out next season but because of the drastic change in story line, their story is not that important right now.

Widmore is the father of all of the Losties and travelled back int ime toi make millions.

Bernard and Rose would not have died due to time sickness because they stopped jumping through time when everyone else did. The were hiding out in the 70’s and probably died of natural causes, possibly in the caves. The black and white stones near adam and eve are the colors of typical stones, black and white. If your marking your own final resting place, or decorating your cave home, you don’t want just black rocks, or just white rocks, but those are your color choices, so you arrange them in the best way you can keeping only the whitest and blackest. It is possible that race was a consideration if it is rose and bernard because they may have wanted the 815 survivors to know it was them after finding out about the time traveling.

In regards to the anagram, here is a snippet of an interview with the Lost producers:

What is the meaning or significance of the two skeletons that Jack and Kate found in the cave of season 1?
CUSE: The answer to that question goes to the nature of the timeline of the island. We don’t want to say too much about it, but there are a couple Easter eggs embedded in [the Feb. 7 episode], one of which is an anagram that actually sheds some light on the skeletons and hints at a larger mythological mystery that will start to unfold later in the season.
LINDELOF: There were certain things we knew from the very beginning. Independent of ever knowing when the end was going to be, we knew what it was going to be, and we wanted to start setting it up as early as season 1, or else people would think that we were making it up as we were going along. So the skeletons are the living — or, I guess, slowly decomposing — proof of that. When all is said and done, people are going to point to the skeletons and say, ”That is proof that from the very beginning, they always knew that they were going to do this.”

On some program thing I just watched about lost, someone said “The skeletons in the cave are rose and bernards”. I just want to know were Claire went? ;/

It’s not Rose and Bernard. According to ODI, it is either Desmond and Penny, Jack and Kate, The Man in Black and his mother, Claire and Aaron, Sawyer and Juliet, Widmore and Eloise, Alpert and his wife, or Sun and Jin
